Silver Street Tavern
It was a friday night and we had a friend, Kelly, back in town so we went out to Waterville to find a good dinner and a beer. We selected Silver Street Tavern because none of us had been there since it was the Blues Club. Charlie Giguere bought the building, made renovations to the establishment, and brought back the tavern.
We walked in, there was live music, the place was clean, with a warm feeling and a touch of class. It’s a nice place but not over the top where you you would feel uncomfortable if you dressed causal. The presentation of the menu was really nice, easy to read and easy to pick out what we wanted. The staff was very knowledgable and willing to accommodate us not knowing the beer list. They had an ample beer and wine list, so many different kinds to chose from, oh and signature drinks. The waitress was very sociable and attentive in a genuine way, not that ‘I’m just looking for a good tip‘ friendly. She and the manger came by a few times to make sure we had everything and to check if the food was good.
I had the muscles, then ordered a side of fries because I was picking off Lee’s plate. Their fries are fat! As in big and tasty. Lee had the mushroom and swiss burger, Kelly had the avocado burger. Lee and I had the Guinness and Kelly had the Shipyard Prelude. Beer and burgers, for me muscles, was a great combination for night out with a good friend.
What I liked most about this place, other then the superior food and company, was that the owner, the manager, and staff all seemed to love what they do. I liked that everything from the decor to how the staff presented themselves was a positive reflection of the attitude of Mr. Giguere, and how he conducts business.
