Rock City Cafe

Books and a Latte!

I am a coffee snob! I like good coffee. I am also a latte kinda person, and this place makes some of the best lattes. I like mine with some flavored syrup, like irish cream or french vanilla. Its fun to stand there and listen to the machine grind the expresso, and then steam the milk to create a yummy indulgence. It is the sound of coffee addiction.

They also make a decent sandwich, I love their panini’s. The tomato, mozzarella, and pesto is the way to go for a light lunch. There deserts are quit tasty too! I personally like their biscotti. I also had a chocolate filled croissant the last time I was in. It was like a croissant went to Switzerland and had a love affair with chocolate, then had a love child called the chocolate sprinkled croissant.

This is also a great place to find a good read. This coffee shop doubles as a second hand book store. They have many selections of different genres, and if they don’t have it on the shelves, they can usually order a copy.

This is another stop in, when in town, type of place. When I am in Rockland it doesn’t take me long to follow the smell of the locally roasted beans, to the must have latte.

First REVIEW! Congratulations to Grand Central Cafe!

Grand Central Cafe, Indeed!

We headed out in search for a good dinner, before I needed to head off to work, in the great city of Waterville! We got in the car and Lee told me which way to head, towards down town, right behind Burger King. It was a little place tucked in the back.

We went in, and it was warm. Only the kind of warmth you get from friendly service and good old wood fire. Fire from the brick oven! Brick Oven Pizza! Unfortunately we had pizza the night before. But fortunately they had a whole quesadilla section and a sandwich section of the menu. I started my order off with a coffee and an apple juice. Lee went for a brew and tried the Geary’s Hampshire Ale. I ordered the soup of the day, tomato vegetable soup, and the pesto shrimp quesadilla. Lee ordered the BBQ chicken wrap.

The drinks where served. Oh that coffee was good! I tried a sip of Lee’s beer, and first sip I thought I didn’t like it, but after I had some soup and tried it again I liked it. It is a food beer, not a get drunk beer.

The food came out, and honestly I thought the quesadilla was almost burnt, but when I tried it, holy lord! It was delicious! It was dark from the oven, and it added to the flavor. You could actually taste the shrimp, not just munch on them and be all like “Oh I’m assuming that’s a shrimp”, no taste the freshness of quality shrimp. Then Lee told me to eat a piece of the chicken from his sandwich, which was hard to do because I was so intent on eating the quesadilla. But I tell you that chicken was good! It was juicy not dry.

On our way out we noticed the cool art work on the walls, and just how colorful the place was. It was nice to sit and enjoy our meal and not feel like we where rushed out of the place. In talking to our waitress she mentioned that they do a lunch buffet, with pizza slices and things. Sounds like a good invite to come in for lunch sometime!
