Rock City Cafe

Books and a Latte!

I am a coffee snob! I like good coffee. I am also a latte kinda person, and this place makes some of the best lattes. I like mine with some flavored syrup, like irish cream or french vanilla. Its fun to stand there and listen to the machine grind the expresso, and then steam the milk to create a yummy indulgence. It is the sound of coffee addiction.

They also make a decent sandwich, I love their panini’s. The tomato, mozzarella, and pesto is the way to go for a light lunch. There deserts are quit tasty too! I personally like their biscotti. I also had a chocolate filled croissant the last time I was in. It was like a croissant went to Switzerland and had a love affair with chocolate, then had a love child called the chocolate sprinkled croissant.

This is also a great place to find a good read. This coffee shop doubles as a second hand book store. They have many selections of different genres, and if they don’t have it on the shelves, they can usually order a copy.

This is another stop in, when in town, type of place. When I am in Rockland it doesn’t take me long to follow the smell of the locally roasted beans, to the must have latte.

First of the tried and true! Clan MacLarens

This is our first post of the tried and true section! Congratulations to Clan MacLarens.

I have been eating here since they opened, over three years ago now. Every time I am in Rockland and its lunch time, I make sure I stop in at Clan MacLaren’s. My favorite sandwich is the Maxwood, mhhmm, roast beef, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, on wheat bread. Most often I get the Victorian salad, chicken salad on regular salad greens with Mandarin oranges and almonds, with balsamic dressing. Jackie and Glenn know me by name now, and I feel like a celebrity when I stop in. I also make sure to bring friends here when ever we want to have lunch together, just so they can have a good meal.

The place is clean and has fresh colors. Its inviting, and just all around comfortable.

If you are looking for a delicious sandwich, that will also fill your belly, with out making you feel like you shouldn’t have eaten that, then stop looking. You’ve found the place to go for great sandwiches!

They have more than just sandwiches, they also have:

  • Salads
  • Soup
  • Homemade Cookies by Jackie
  • GELATO

Not only do they have great food, but awesome customer service. Jackie and Glenn are more often then not behind the counters with a smile and patience with all costumers. Whether you have been going to Clan McLarrens for a while now, or are a first timer this is a great place for lunch.
